Alexandra Adams - Swimming
Alexandra
Adams, from Maidstone in Kent is one of our promising young stars
of the future in swimming.
At the Maidstone Borough Council Youth Sport Achievement Awards for 2008 she won the Outstanding Personal Achievement Award , and came second in the Junior Individual 15's and Under open category.
This was reward and recognition for a very successful year which saw her make the step up from National's to International Disability Swimming.
Alexandra's ambition is to build on this progress and ultimately to make selection for the London 2012 Paralympic Games. As a visually impaired swimmer, Alexandra swims under the S13 classification, and is already a member of the English Talent Squad.
She is currently training again at the Black Lion ASA Swimming Club, after a lengthy lay off due to injury.
In January 2009 she took part in the DSE Regional Swimming Championships in Southampton, where she entered 8 races, secured 4 1st places and 4 2nd places, with a new Personal Best in the 50m breaststroke of 46.25 seconds. Her next event this year is the DSE National Junior Championships in Sheffield, in March.
