Basketball coaching courses

Basketball coachingIt is now easier than ever to become a qualified coach through England Basketball's Coach Education Programme.

The first step and often the best way to get into coaching is to go along to your local club session (after asking permission) and get involved with setting up the session and organising the players in the drills. After a few weeks you'll feel confident enough to make a commitment to becoming a coach.

The next step to becoming a fully qualified coach is to enrol on a England Basketball coaching course, which take place at various locations right across the country for more details log onto England Basketball

Basketball Officials' courses

Throughout England there are many local and national league competitions, all of which need officials for the games to take place. No officials usually means no game!

To be an active official you need to be qualified and licensed to officiate in any game. You should also make sure you are officiating in leagues that are affiliated to ensure that your insurance is valid.

To become a licensed official you need to complete an application form from England Basketball and click the officials menu. If you are already licensed as a coach or player the fee required will be reduced as the England Basketball membership fee will already have been paid.

There are four levels of officiating qualifications both for referees and table officials and courses for these are run throughout the country. In Kent and Medway we are always looking to organise courses to develop our officials.
