What's it all about?
Cycling is one of the most versatile activities that people can participate in as a bicycle can be used as a means of transport, be ridden for fun, leisure and recreational purposes or can be used in a number of different types of competition.
There is a vast range of cycles available for different purposes and many of them are used at grass roots level through to Olympic events.
Great Britain is the number one Track Cycling Nation in the World.
Structure of the Sport
British Cycling is the internationally recognised governing body of Cycling in the UK. It administers the sport in the following disciplines: BMX, Cycle Speedway, Cyclo-Cross, Mountain Bike, Road and Track.
British Cycling has also developed a leisure strand called Everyday Cycling with the aim of getting more people more active in Cycling.
England has been divided into a number of regions that are based on the historic competitive structures that support the number of cycle racing disciplines. Kent is included in British Cycling’s South East Region.
Taking Part
There
are over 30 cycling clubs in Kent ranging from Go-Ride School Clubs
coaching at grass roots level both during and after school, through
to commercial racing teams. Community Club details can be found
