Day Certificate benefits both staff and young people
On November 4th a group of Youth Inclusion Support Panel (YISP) staff attended a Day Certificate in Sports Leadership course at Aylesford Bulls Rugby Club.
Dan Bride, County Youth Crime Prevention Manager, who also attended the course commented, "Leadership skills are for everyone. They're transferable to sports, recreation and work, and help us to communicate effectively, to take responsibility, to motivate, achieve, and to value and cooperate with others. The YISP team will use their leadership training to enhance the skills of the young people they work with, as well as in their professional and personal lives. Above all else, they had a hilarious day and worked fantastically as a team." Following on from another Day Certificate course that ran back in July, which saw two Intensive Supervision and Surveillance Programme (ISSP) young people complete the course, Ian Snowball, ISSP Co-ordinator, has successfully completed another course with another six young people passing and completing the course, proving again that the Day Certificate is both an achievable and realistic course to tutor to those who are or at risk of offending. |

The course gave attendees the opportunity to focus on their communication skills, taking control of group games, making activities safe and then organising, adapting and leading their own activities.
