Physical activity can improve the health of your business as well as the physical and mental health of your employees, bringing multiple benefits to all.
Evidence is conclusive that regular physical activity will help prevent and manage over 20 conditions and chronic diseases including cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension, obesity and osteoporosis. Poor physical health increases the chances of poor mental health (stress, depression, anxiety, low levels of self-esteem).
Physically active employees are less likely to suffer from major health problems, less likely to take sickness leave and less likely to have an accident at work (Dishman et al., 1998).
Taking part in physical activity at a moderate intensity for 150 minutes a week is sufficient for most health benefits.
