Inclusive Fitness Initiative (IFI) Gyms

IFI is a national scheme whereby fitness suites are awarded grants to increase the range of equipment that they offer that is ‘user-friendly’ to disabled people. Staff receive disability equality training and the fitness instructors are further trained in working with disabled people.

An IFI facility provides a fully inclusive customer journey for all users, from arriving at the facility, through to accessible changing rooms, training advice and equipment choice. Kent and Medway now have six accredited IFI sites:

  • The Stour Centre – Ashford
  • Pent Valley Sports Centre – Folkestone
  • Larkfield Leisure Centre – near Maidstone
  • Blue Wave Hydrotherapy and Gym Complex – Margate
  • Sevenoaks Leisure Centre – Sevenoaks
  • Medway Park – Gillingham
  • Strood Leisure Centre – Medway
