Health, Physical Activity & SportKent Sports Development Unit is developing links with health agencies to ensure better co-ordination for healthy activity in the 'Supporting Independence' priority areas. The Unit already has a number of links with health professionals, organisations and working groups and is represented on the Kent Physical Activity & Healthy Eating Alliance and SEPACT (South East Physical Activity Co-ordinating Team). NewsNew Obesity ToolkitA new toolkit jointly published by National Heart Forum, the Faculty of Public Health and the Department of Health is available tackling obesity. Lightening the Load: Tackling Overweight and Obesity has been designed to provide a starting point for developing a local strategy to meet and address the challenge of tackling overweight and obesity. The toolkit is crammed with practical tips and information and is being launched to help people fight the flab and improve their health.
Government publishes its Health Challenge for EnglandThe Government has launched its new approach to improving health and removing health inequalities. The initiative, called Health Challenge for England, was published at the same time as the Government issued its Health Profile for England, which gathers national and regional health statistics to provide a yardstick that helps public health officials measure local progress.
