2012 SETTING THE PACE – GRANTS PROGRAMME
The MLA Council has announced a new grant as part of its ‘Setting the Pace’ programme for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The grant will pay for the delivery of eighteen Young Cultural Creator Schemes across England which will help young people to write poetry inspired by museum and archive collections.
These Schemes will coincide with the launch of the Cultural Olympiad (26-28 September), and it is hoped that some of the schemes will be completed by this date.
The grants will help cover the costs of delivering the programme, as well as providing relevant support and training from experienced consultants.
Deadline for applications is 30 April 2008.

Legacy Trust's South East spend shaping up...
Earlier this month the Legacy Trust and the regional steering group in charge of deciding how to spend our regional allocation of £1.9m came together to examine the commissioned project proposals. There was no bidding round for the region's allocation of Legacy Trust funding.
The bids came from a range of regional partners including English Heritage, Screen South, Museums Libraries & Archives South East, and two of the six regional 2012 working groups: Sports, and Culture & Communities. It is anticipated that the final agreed project should be known in April. More details as we know them…
The Legacy Trust has some additional funding for some nationwide projects, namely £6m for the UK School Games, £5m for a 'World Festival of Youth Culture', and £6m to be shared between a Big Arts Week that shall be delivered through schools, and a Community/Volunteering project. Again, more details as we have them...

London 2012 is further revising the original plans, but it is anticipated it will also add another four to the programme, incorporating projects around science, literature, dance and heritage. Further details are expected sometime in the autumn...
