COMMUNICATIONS AND MEDIA - April 2007 archive
2012 is providing a fantastic, but time constrained, opportunity for Communication & Public relations, Broadcasting and IT & Telecommunications businesses in Kent to raise their profile, nationally and even perhaps internationally. Visit latest news (link) to see what Kent businesses should be doing now.
With the Kent Strategy for the 2012 Games undergoing a soft roll out – Official
Launch 14 May 2007 – all nine of the Campaign’s sectoral task groups
have changed gear from planning into early delivery. The Communications and Media
group is no different, and will be looking to meet with key county media partners
over the next few months to discuss which elements of the Campaign they are most
interested in; whether that be the local angle, the business angle or the up-and-coming
athletes angle, and how we can work together to not only promote these, but really
maximise them.
The group is also exploring how best we can promote Kent to the international
media that we know will soon be focusing their lenses on London and the neighbouring
areas, and from this enhance our international profile. With the support of
a Kent County Council management trainee, as well as using the research already
carried out by members of the Communications and Media group, we will be working
with media partners abroad, in areas that neighbour Athens, Sydney, Turin and,
looking ahead, Beijing and Vancouver – to identify what we can learn,
adapt, and downright steal from previous Games “doorsteps”
