SOUTH EAST BUSINESS SUPPORT COORDINATOR FOR THE 2012 GAMES
SEEDA and Business Link Kent are currently recruiting a South East Business Support Coordinator for the 2012 Games. With responsibility for raising awareness of the opportunities, helping businesses to work with each other to secure contracts, helping businesses to understand and apply the procurement requirements, and promoting the adoption of the London 2012 ideals of environmental sustainability and responsible business practice, this is a role for a business support professional who is passionate about the Olympics, and has excellent project management and communication skills. In the interim, Maxine Adam of soa development has been tasked with taking forward this role and has three clear priorities:
Identifying the matrix of current and planned business support activity in Kent and across the region
Getting an SME support portal up and running, most likely through the SEEDA website
Developing the project plan for the new appointee to then deliver on behalf of SMEs in Kent and across the region
Both Maxine, and Jim McKenzie, Chairman of the Kent Coordinating Group for the 2012 Games’ Economic Development Group, are clear that any 2012-related “business opportunities network” will not focus just on winning those 2012 contracts, but focus on how the process of being involved in the network will support businesses’ prosperity, security and future growth now.
