Social Enterprise - Winning with 2012
7
October 2008 saw Social Enterprises from across Kent participate in a roundtable
discussion on the opportunities presented by the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic
Games and how social enterprise in the South East can take part in the delivery
and legacy of the Games.
They were joined by Paralympic Bronze medalist Alastair McKean who gave an inspirational speech about fulfilling your potential and using the 2012 Games to maximise your business opportunities.
Paul Toben, the Business Kent Link, directed the attendees to the opportunities provided by the CompeteFor website. CompeteFor is the chosen site of London 2012 for the publication of Games-related contract opportunities. It acts as a brokerage service between buyers throughout the London 2012 supply chain, and potential suppliers.

This consultation meeting also served to:
- Learn about opportunities presented by the 2012 Games;
- Share best practice and explore business partnerships for successful engagement; and
- Influence policy makers through SEL’s Strategic Partnership with Cabinet Office.
In partnership with the Cabinet Office and Social Enterprise London, the Social Enterprise Coalition has organised consultation meetings in each region of the country. They want to ensure that social enterprises have all the information they need to engage with the delivery and contribute to the success and the legacy of the Games.
This is the place to learn about Olympic opportunities in the South East and feedback to policy makers on the issues that affect you.
