Business News in September
Led by Business Link Kent with support from Kent County Council, an electronic guide has been developed for local businesses to identify what they need to do to become “fit for the Games”. This is available on www.businesslink.gov.uk/....
To support this tool we would also like to offer business partnerships a presentation from a member of the Kent Coordinating Group for the 2012 Games. Interested parties should contact Stephanie Holt or Stephen Tucker on (01622) 605052. The presentation would be tailored but would include the size and shape of the opportunity, the timescales, and the procurement/tender approaches.
Businesses are also encouraged to become regular visitors of the www.london2012.com/en/gettinginvolved/business website where tenders, procurement opportunities, branding guidelines, networking opportunities and the latest business information is posted. The “business” element of this central website has been greatly strengthened in recent months.
The ODA has recently announced that CLM consortium (CH2M Hill, Laing O’Rourke and Mace) is to be its Delivery Partner, with the consortium’s role being to “set the construction programme” and generally manage the delivery of the infrastructure and venues required to stage the Games. More details on www.london2012.com/en/news/archive/...
Led by the South East of England Delivery Agency, and its East Midland equivalent, with detailed involvement of Business Link Kent, a business club model (or business opportunities network) continues to be developed with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games. It is hoped this will be launched early in the new year, and a localised Kent model is being developed by the Kent sectoral task group.
An “outer Thames Gateway” response from Kent and Essex partners to a national consultation on “ensuring the Games contribute to sustainable communities, including the wider Thames Gateway” is being written, for Government ministers to consider this autumn.
