Vision
“London vision is to reach young people all around the world. To connect them with the inspirational power of the Games”.
These were the words of Lord Sebastian Coe, Chairman of London’s Olympic and Paralympic bid, when he made his presentation to the International Olympic Committee last summer, helping win London the bid.
To connect Kent’s young people with the inspirational power of the Games being on our doorstep, a Schools and Young People sectoral task group will formally meet for the first time on July 12, looking at what identified priorities we in Kent want to achieve for, and with, young people. The reality is though, of course, that in fact all of Kent's Campaign for the 2012 Games work around maximising the benefits to Kent around the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games is about legacy, and therefore about young people.
The role of this group will therefore be to look at what young people-focused projects can be taken forward, particularly around schools, but also to also explicitly consider projects young people feel is important. To that end, both the Kent Youth County Council and the Medway Youth Parliament are represented on the group.
