Win the chance for your school to work with the London 2012 VeloPark designers.

VelodromeThe London 2012 team are asking pupils up to age 16 to think big, think creatively, and design their dream VeloPark to host the cycling sports of a future Games.

The winning pupils will have the opportunity to see the designers of the 2012 VeloPark at work and learn how to create a world-class venue.

Schools are being encouraged to register now, to receive a free information pack with resources that have been designed to complement the curriculum - in time for the September launch of this competition.

KENT SCHOOL GAMES

Young peopleThe Kent Campaign's School and Young People's Group has reorganised to set up five task and finish groups to lead on each of the group's five priorities - for details of the five priorities, please follow this link (pdf) . The sectoral task group will now meet once a term to review action and progress

In the meantime, the chairman of the group, Danny O'Donovan, Executive Head Teacher of Herne Bay High School, has been actively producing the first Every Child Active in Kent newsletter, which profiles the work of the Kent Campaign and includes an exclusive foreword from Dame Kelly Holmes CBE in her dual role as Patron of the Kent Campaign for the 2012 Games and as National School Sport Champion. He has also been appointed chairman of the South East's Youth Sport Trust 2012 Head Teacher Development Group, reflecting Kent's continued national leadership on understanding, grasping and maximising opportunities around 2012.

There have also been extensive discussions and planning around the staging of the biennial Kent School Games  - an objective of the Kent Strategy for the 2012 Games. Medway schools will be part of the games, with trials across the county anticipated between October 2007 and May 2008, with the Finals events being staged during the weeks 23 June and 6 July 2008. The Kent School Games will cover secondary, primary and special schools, and are expected to cover most of the following shortlist of sports.
