Skills

The South East Skills and Employment Group for London 2012 (one of the six regional level working groups looking at 2012) has identified three clear priorities;

Item Delivering inspiring skills development for 14 – 19 year olds
Item Supporting development of employability
Item Encourage volunteering and progression into learning through community based activities that harness local interest in 2012

These, as well the emerging if still tentative national objectives, were considered at the first meeting of the Kent Coordinating Group for the 2012 Games’ Skills and Training sectoral task group. From these discussions, emerging local priorities are likely to be around;

Item Network of sustainable quality work based learning opportunities and apprenticeships
Item Strong 14 – 19 vocational curriculum development
Item Upskill volunteers through stronger community based learning
Item Support for new entrepreneurs
Item Workforce development as required by the other eight Kent sectoral task groups
Item Kent jobseekers gaining employment

The group meets again in October.
