Creating a tourism legacy

Meet the Kent Greeters!

Since the Kent Greeters programme was launched by Visit Kent, hundreds of people have been welcomed to Kent in this unique way.

Kent Greeters are volunteer residents who want to share the area they love with visitors to the County. Inspired by the Big Apple Greeters of New York, the Kent Greeter programme now forms part of the Global Greeter Network.

Currently Kent has 104 Greeters who are available throughout the County to provide a friendly welcome and a unique information service about the local area. If you want to discover the real Kent and learn about local culture then the Kent Greeters are the perfect people to ask.

Do you have a special interest?

We can match you with a Kent volunteer who shares that interest, whether you want to learn more about local history, culture, architecture, art or shopping. Each Greeter can provide a 2-4 hour visit of your chosen area for up to six people. They can answer any questions you may have on the area and will always meet you regardless of the weather!

Every Greeter is a volunteer ‘friend' and not a professional tour guide, but provides you with a bespoke welcome to the Garden of England - completely free!

If you are interested in meeting a Kent Greeter, or want to become one, please log on to www.visitkent.co.uk/greeters for more information.

Kent Greeters is just one of a host of programmes being delivered by Visit Kent in the run up to the 2012 Games in order to maximise the positive impact and opportunities for our County.
