Creating a tourism legacy

HS1 and Ebbsfleet

JavelinVisitors to the 2012 Games will benefit from the High Speed service that will be taking thousands of people a day to the Olympic Park from Ebbsfleet in north Kent in just 9 ½ minutes during Games time!

Key ceremonies and finals (particularly in the second week of the Games) are likely to be held in late afternoons and evenings, so along with the impact of the public travelling to the Olympic Park from Ebbsfleet (official Park and Rail for the Olympic Park) to watch these, Kent will experience an increased volume of people using public transport. Kent partners, including the Police and our transport providers, are proactively working with London 2012 to manage this impact.

Certainly for the period of the Olympics (27 July-12 August) the HS1 service within Kent will be reduced to two trains an hour to/from Ashford International Station and one train an hour to/from Faversham Station.
