Games Makers update
Up to 240,000 people applied to become London 2012 Games Makers in 2010. Throughout 2011, successful applicants have been invited to selection events. The chosen 70,000 will all be notified by end of March, with training beginning in February 2012.
Games Makers will volunteer for a minimum of 10 days at either the Olympic Games or the Paralympic Games; or for a minimum of 20 days if they volunteer at both. Shifts will typically last eight to 10 hours and adequate rest days will be given. Games Makers will also attend at least three training sessions prior to the Games.
Although official London 2012 Games Makers must be over 18, a ‘Young Games Maker’ programme for under 18s was unveiled in summer 2011.
