Do you want to be part of the London 2012 Games? Then become a Trailblazer!
London 2012 are looking for 20 individuals to become volunteers working on the build up to Games. Entitled 'Trailblazers' these people will have a range of skills and experience – London 2012’s aim is to appeal to all areas of the community and ensure a diverse range of applicants.
Volunteering will be at the heart of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. As well as needing volunteers at Games-time, LOCOG are keen to secure volunteers during the lead up to the Games.
Trailblazers will be office-based volunteers working within the LOCOG offices in Canary Wharf. They will be performing a wide range of administration duties as required within all departments.
Five out of 20 Trailblazers will be selected from the Personal Best Programme which looks to develop peoples skills so that they may become Games-time volunteers.

Volunteers will need the following personal qualities:
- Flexibility: be adaptable and be able to learn from situations and deal with changing priorities.
- Commitment: be dedicated and take on some personal responsibility.
- Friendly: be supportive of team members and be helpful and welcoming.
- Positive attitude: be enthusiastic; service-focused and have a 'can do' attitude.
- Good communicator: have good interpersonal skills.
Minimum requirements for all Trailblazers include:
- Aged over 18
- Basic computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Good written and verbal English skills.
- Experience of working within a team environment.
- Commitment to volunteer one day a week.
- Eligibility to work as a volunteer within the UK in accordance with immigration rules.
What will the volunteers be doing?
Trailblazer volunteers will undertake a variety of roles including:
- Data entry support where required.
- Administration support to departments.
- Helping with the organisation of activities and events such as forums, seminars, meetings and conferences.
- Undertaking other duties appropriate to the role and needs of LOCOG.
