VOLUNTEERING - June 06 archive

Volunteer The London 2012 Olympics will require around 50,000 volunteers, the Paralympics around 20, 000. Volunteers will be required in many many areas, including in the Olympic village itself, or in venue operations, spectator services, transport or indeed ceremonies, naming just a few. You can register on the London 2012 Volunteers’ database, but please note that registering does not guarantee that you will become a London volunteer, as there will be a recruitment process! London's volunteering strategy will be consulted upon nationally later this year, and we will provide further detail on becoming a London 2012 volunteer on this website as details emerge.

Kent Co-ordinating Group for the 2012 Games is in conversation with Volunteering England and the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games as to how we can use the opportunity of the London Olympic and Paralympic Games to maximise volunteering legacy in this county. It is still early days, and we are mindful of the reorganisation of the volunteering sector as we shape Kent's volunteering approach, and we would be delighted to hear from you if you wish to input into the emerging Kent approach. Please email enquiries@kent2012.org

We are delighted that Kent's Campaign for the 2012 Games Volunteering sectoral task group is chaired by Carole Kincaid, Vice Chairman of Volunteering England, and coordinator of Kent Volunteers.
