Volunteers for one-off Kent Events

Whilst we await publication of London 2012's volunteering action plan, now expected toward the end of this year, Kent 2012's volunteering group has not been resting on its laurels. Working with Sevenoaks Centre of Volunteering Excellence, Kent County Council and members of the sectorial task group have been working up a project that will be launched in spring 2008. The project will recruit, support and deploy volunteers to support “one-off” leisure, sport and cultural events, and will look to grow the numbers of volunteers in the scheme and numbers of event organisers using the scheme, providing a long-term legacy resource for Kent’s organisations. The London 2012 Games are being used as a catalyst for this project which will build on the Sevenoaks-led pilot, and will also support the development of volunteers for 2012.
