Inspiring young people through the Games

Become a Resident at the Creative Campus!

Creative Visual ArtCreative Campus is inviting deaf and disabled artists to submit their interest for the chance to win a unique 2012 related artist residency at a leading UK university.

The Creative Campus Initiative is a dynamic programme of cultural events and activities leading up to the London 2012 Games that aim to showcase the strength of arts and creative practice within South East higher education.

In association with Dada-South and Create Compete Collaborate, three South East universities including the University of Kent and the University for the Creative Arts, are involved with the project and are inviting disabled and deaf artists from any subject disciplines to submit an expression of interest.

Artists chosen as part of the project will work within a specific university department, aiming to create something that can be represented or activated in an exhibition/performance at the University in 2010.

Each project should aim to “draw inspiration from, critically appraise and respond to the themes, values and issues surrounding the 2012 Games, especially the Paralympics” and may come from any creative discipline - visual art, theatre piece, installation driven for example. The project should also aim to engage university communities and help to encourage wider participation in University life from outside communities. There will also be the opportunity to deliver some workshops or intervention work with students supporting the themes of their project.

Works of art and performances that emerge from the Creative Campus Initiative will initially be exhibited in South East venues during 2010 and then go on to tour the UK and internationally in 2011.

Deadline for Submissions: 5pm, Monday 11th January 2012

Submissions should be made in font size no smaller than 12pt. Applicants are encouraged to supply supporting information in the form of not more than 3 images in addition to this.

Submissions will only be accepted by email and should be sent to the relevant University Cultural Co-ordinator (See below)
