Delivering a volunteering legacy

eVent team are Show-cased!

eVent TeamThe Kent County Show was held on the 17-19 July, and was a huge success for the Kent Event team!

The Kent eVent Team is a partnership between Kent County Council and the voluntary sector in Kent, aimed at recruiting volunteers for events and one-off sport, leisure and cultural activities across the county, including the build up to the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games in London.

80000 people visited the show this year, which included a range of activities from agriculture to motocross demonstrations!

The team exhibited over all three days of the show, spreading the word about the partnership and talking to potential volunteers and event organisers. The event was a massive success with over one hundred members of the public signing up to the volunteer network!

Teresa Pritchard, Kent eVent team Project Manager said, “Promoting our project at this years Kent show was a great success, we had 120 sign ups at the show and many more took the information away.

Signing up with us is easy - By registering, volunteers only commitment is to receive information about how they can get involved in exciting, fun and rewarding events around the county.

This simple idea appeals to such a variety of people, and this was evident in the great mixture of people we had signing up at the show, it also brought to life just how much interest there is in volunteering for the wealth of opportunities in Kent as well as in London for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games and the run up to it.”
