On Your Marks… GET SET… Network!
Get Set, London 2012’s official education programme, have confirmed that two Kent schools have been accepted onto the Get Set Network – and more are to follow.
Herne Bay High School and the North School are now established on the Get Set Network, which aims to create a special community of schools and colleges using the Olympic and Paralympic Values to inspire learning. Acceptance onto the Network is phase two of the Get Set programme, after schools were initially invited to register.
The initial registration process was a huge success for the county. 5 out of every 6 Kent schools registered with Get Set, a figure that is still rising, compared with a national figure of 1 out of every 6 schools. Kent’s 20in12 educational programme has played a major part establishing Kent schools within the national Get Set programme, using the Olympic and Paralympic values to inspire the curriculum and helping to create an Olympic Learning Rep in each Kent school.
Herne Bay and the North School will be presented with a special recognition by Rosalind Turner, Managing Director of Children, Families and Education services, on 12 November at the Secondary Heads conference. It is understood that more Kent schools, such as Joy Lane Primary school in Whitstable, are soon to be added to the Network, and with the Network growing daily, Kent is already leading the way in phase two. Registered schools in Kent are being encouraged to apply now to be accepted onto the Get Set Network.
In addition to a network of contacts gained through the Network, accepted schools will gain access to learning materials, competitions, and have use of the exclusive London 2012 education logo.
