Kent Student Wins 2012 Logo Competition!
An 18 year-old Graphic Design student from Canterbury College has won a National competition to design the education logo for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Reiss Evans’ unique design featuring colourful rows of pencils will now be used as the official logo for Get Set, London 2012's official education programme. 5 out of 6 Kent schools are already signed up to the Get Set network, which aims to get school children inspired by the 2012 Games, and the logo will now be used by schools and colleges up and down the country.
The competition was a great success for Kent, as four of the six shortlisted finalists came from Canterbury College. Reiss Evans, from
Dover, is studying for a BTEC National Diploma in Graphic Design and managed to beat off competition from more than 150 other 16 to 21-year-olds from colleges and Universities across the country.
Finalists pitched their ideas to a panel of judges including Olympian and BMX World Champion Shanaze Reade at a final held at the Olympic Park in June.
Alison Clarke, Principal of Canterbury College said: “This is a fantastic achievement by Reiss against gold standard competition from some of the best Graphic Design students in the country. The college is very proud of Reiss and all our students who took part. The fact that four of the six finalists were our students is a credit to them and the Graphic Design department in the College”.
