"Astounding" Olympic Progress
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has praised the “astounding” progress being made on the London 2012 Games after a three-day visit.
The IOC Coordination Commission was making its fourth visit to the capital recently, tasked with reviewing progress towards the London 2012 Games. After meeting with representatives from across London 2012 and seeing first-hand the progress being made on the construction of the venues, Commission Chairman Denis Oswald said the progress made in Stratford is "nothing short of astounding".
One year after building on the Olympic Stadium began, the site currently has a 4,000 strong workforce constructing the Big Five venues, including the 'world's fastest Velodrome'.
To read about the rapid progress made at the Olympic Park, the ODA publication On Track (pdf) reviews the developments. You can also see the progress made yourself by taking virtual tours or viewing webcams of the site.
