How Was the Torch Route Decided?

The route was determined by the London 2012 Organising Committee, both District Councils and Kent County Council inputted in to this process to identify and suggest local key areas and attractions that we wished to see featured in the Torch Relay.

Not all of our suggestions could be fitted in to the very tight timetable of the Olympic Torch as it makes its way around the UK, with the organisers' ambition being that by the end of the 70 days the Olympic Torch will have been within an hour's drive of 90% of the UK's population.
