Please note that all 2009 grants will only be made to support events taking part in Open Weekend 24 – 26 July 2009.
In 2008, grants totaling over £9,000 were awarded and two of the most recent projects include:
St Mary’s CE – Table Tennis Club:
Over 100 children at St Mary’s CE primary school
in Dover enjoyed the delights of Table Tennis
in addition to their normal classes. The Table Tennis equipment that was
purchased will last for years to come and allow hundreds of future students
to enjoy the sport. 16 children now attend the weekly after-school
club sessions and a further 30 during the curriculum time session
at St Mary’s and in 2009 sessions will be offered to children from
other local schools.

‘One Vision’, The Musical:
The Skillnet Group, a social enterprise, helped to support people with
learning disabilities produce and perform a musical at The Theatre Royal
in Margate in November 2009. 'One Vision' the musical takes you on a journey
of one man's struggle to live an ordinary life, through a series of sketches,
poems and songs from the rock band Queen. Skillnet hope to support people
with learning disabilities to take the lead in making changes in society
and ensure they have the opportunity to be involved in their local community
and not simply included in it.
