Kent’s Double Olympic Champion Backs Young Talent
On Sunday 21 November, over 100 talented performers from across Kent came together to develop their skills with the help of Dame Kelly Holmes and her team of Harnessing Talent athletes at the University of Kent.
Parents, coaches, trainers and carers were also given an opportunity to receive specialist coaching from experts Sonya Shellard, Claire Graham, Matt Cole and Louisa Arnold.
Supporting the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust event was Minister for Sport and Olympics, Hugh Robertson. Being an MP for a Kent constituency, Mr Robertson showed great enthusiasm for the event.
“Kent and Sport are two of the most important things in my life, and this is why I am here. The Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust has given these talented performers a real opportunity to develop their skills in a way they never could have dreamed and I'm delighted to be here today”.
Kelsie Gibson, a World Championship silver medallist in adaptive rowing and Lewis Gray, National Schools U16 Table Tennis champion were among the participants in the event.
Dame Kelly ran her own workshop, putting 50 talented performers through their paces with an intensive circuit session. The performers certainly impressed Kelly with their hard work and efforts!
