Case Study 1 - All Dancing Dover

All Dance DoverOn 29 August 2009, the Kent 2012 Small Grants Fund helped support the fantastic ‘All Dancing Dover’ to mark the 3 year countdown until the Opening Ceremony of the Paralympic Games in 2012.

Inspired by the London 2012/BBC Live Site in Dover’s Market Square, members of the public were offered a unique experience to engage with site through screen dance – where for the first time members of the public were able to follow famous dance routines, led by professional and volunteer performers, and join in as the moves were projected on the live screen!

Inspired by Olympic and Paralympic themes, the interactive nature of the event aimed to encourage participation in dance from all the community and at a level they felt comfortable at. Dance themes included the Tango, Salsa, Jive, Ballroom and street dance; with over 1500 people engaging on the day.

‘All Dancing Dover’ was proud to receive the Inspire Mark from London 2012, exclusively awarded to innovative and exceptional projects directly inspired by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games

“The small grants fund is a really good way to fund Olympic related events. With All Dancing Dover it was not just the financial help that was of assistance but also the additional publicity for the event that was of help.”
