Olympic Torch Transcript

Introduction music and people clapping to the young man Joe running in with torch.

Man with microphone.  “Welcome Joe, welcome, come and Join me on stage here”.  Handshake – “Hello, well done, that’s fantastic, very very good, really, really good.  Well, what’s the story behind the torch Joe”.

Joe – “The torch originally was my granddads and when he was 18 he ran with it in the original relay and he was part of the marines so he was doing a lot of marathons as it was, so he was just asked to run with it”.

Man – “It was obviously a treasured family heirloom, where do you keep it in the house?”

Joe – Well, it was just kept in the bar originally and made into a lamp and hung next to the optics”.

Laughter

Man – “I am sure people are wanting to know how the flame is kept alive, how is the flame kept alive?”

Joe – “We use them BBQ firelighters, you take pliers, lift the top up and just keep poking them in”.

Man – “The myth is slowing eroding but thank you very much, a warm welcome and a warm goodbye to Joe”.

Joe leaves to the audience’s applause.
