The 'Where' of Kent's Campaign
The Kent Coordinating Group for the 2012 Games covers the whole of the county of Kent, including Medway. The Group has adopted a thematic rather than a geographical approach. There are some occasions where the work necessarily demands a geographical focus, for example Ebbsfleet being the Olympic/Paralympic Park’s Park and Rail site, but on the whole we have looked to concentrate our efforts thematically:
- Arts
- Communications and media
- Economic Development and Regeneration
- Schools and Young People
- Skills and Training
- Sport
- Tourism
- Transport
- Volunteering
We very much hope that local partners such as a voluntary group, or a college, or a sports club, are inspired to use the 'magic dust' of the Games to achieve very local priorities, but have deliberately designed the framework of Kent’s approach to the Games, as laid out in our Strategy, to support countywide benefit from 2012.
Each District Council in Kent has a 2012 'lead' and they may be able to advise on local efforts.
