2012 Sport and Culture Passport for Tunbridge Wells borough
With the clock counting down to the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games in 2012 Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is putting plans in place to ensure the excitement is shared by people across the borough. These plans include a passport to events and activities and the council is asking local sports clubs and cultural organisations to make sure they take advantage of the opportunity to feature in the passport and share in the Olympic excitement.
The passport will be valid from January 2012 until early September 2012 and in it the council wants to promote free taster sessions, events or open days for both sporting and cultural activities. Local sports clubs and cultural organisations are being invited use the passport to share their activities with a wider audience and take the opportunity to promote themselves.
The passport is going to be available to all residents in the Tunbridge Wells borough. Natalie Coode, Tunbridge Wells Borough Council Sports and Young People Officer said: “We hope that for the passport local clubs will provide activities that will be accessible to all. You might want to run a one off special event or open day or invite people to a taster session during your usual activity programme.”
In conjunction with the passport the council is running a competition with prizes being awarded for attendance achievements at the featured events. Further details of this will be announced at a later date along with information about the council’s new adults and juniors Sports Achievement Awards.
If you are interested in being included in the passport then please contact the Communities and Health Team at Tunbridge Wells Borough Council on 01892 554201 or email sports@tunbridgewells.gov.uk by Monday 8 August 2011.
