Youngsters benefit from free leadership course
Twelve
youngsters from the Christ Church Youth Centre in Ashford took part
in a free sports leadership course last Friday. Funded by The Mercers’
Company this course is just the first of several running across the
County this summer, and targeted those competing in the annual Community
Wardens’ Football Tournament. Funding was gained by Sports
Leaders UK and delivery was through the Kent Sports Leadership Project.
Those attending learnt various skills including communication and
how to organise small activities.
Course organiser Stuart Butler was pleased with the
turnout commenting “12 youngsters gave up their time and their
commitment throughout was excellent”. At the end of the course
one youngster, Mark Hilden, was presented with two tickets to watch
any Ashford Town FC game this coming season because of his efforts
on the day.
