Clash of the Bowls CodesIn an attempt to encourage more people to play bowls, for the first time in Kent the 3 versions of the sport – Short Mat, Indoor and Outdoor are coming together to battle it out to be crowned champion of the codes. Stone Lodge Indoor Bowls and Halls Bowls Club located in Cotton Lane, Dartford are hosting this FREE event for the public on Saturday 26th September, starting at 10:30am and finishing at 3:30pm. There will be an opportunity to learn and play bowls yourself through the public ’have a go’ areas. Following your free taster, watch some experienced adult and junior bowlers in action, grab some refreshments and visit the information stand to find out about bowls opportunities in your area. The event has been co-ordinated by the Kent Bowls Partnership, representing all 5 County Bowls Associations and supported by Kent Sport, Leisure & Olympics Service and Dartford Borough Council. Bowls England and the English Indoor Bowling Association are also sponsoring the event in the hope it will attract new players, young and old to the game. John Russell, a member of the Kent Bowls Partnership explains “This is a great opportunity to watch how the different bowls codes are played and decide which one maybe for you. Or perhaps if you are already a bowler, it may entice you to attempt another version of the game. With both adults and juniors competing, we are hoping to attract families to the event to demonstrate how it’s a great game for everybody.” There is no need to book, just turn up!
