Good Luck to Kent Athletes Heading for the British Transplant Games
Seven athletes from Kent who have all had organ transplants will be heading to the British Transplant Games being held at the University of Bath from 19-22 August. The seven are from all around Kent and hope to add to their medal collections. These athletes vary in age from 42-64 years and by competing in the Games they hope to raise awareness of the value of organ donation as well as representing the County.
The athletes are Nicky Clifford and Mary Jenkins from Maidstone, Paul German from Sheerness, Phillip Mallery from Dover, Laurence Sandum from Canterbury, Sandra Tiley from Birchington and Lisa Innes from Chatham. Their competitive sports include Athletics, Badminton, Cycling, Squash, Table Tennis, Tennis and Walking.
KCC Cabinet Member for Community Services, Mike Hill, said: “These athletes are testament to how an organ transplant can literally transform people’s lives. I wish them all, the best of luck in the Games.”
