The Kent Cricket Board is holding trials at Sutton Valence School for girls of primary and secondary age who are keen to play cricket at club or county level. Previous experience is not essential but if you are sporty and like team games, then cricket might be an ideal sport for you. The session for primary girls will use soft balls and Kwik Cricket equipment. The session for secondary girls will involve the use of both soft and hard balls. All equipment will be provided. “These are not strictly ‘trials’ but more of a chance to play indoor cricket for four hours,” says David Sear, Kent Cricket Development Officer. “There are many more opportunities for girls to play cricket nowadays, and girls who show potential will be invited to join county squads. The route to the very top can also be amazingly quick. Our very own Lydia Greenway, who played her first test match for England in 2003 at the age of eighteen, has highlighted this.” |
“So why not give cricket a try. It’s worth noting that girls have a better chance of playing cricket for Kent and England compared with boys!” Trials Dates and Times: Sutton Valence School, near Maidstone For further details and a trials application form, contact the Kent Cricket
