GB Sitting Volleyball Teams head off to Oklahoma

GB Women and Hungarian teamsThe GB Sitting Volleyball squads are on their way to the World Championships in Oklahoma after a successful weekend at the Pre World Championship International Tournament at Kent University.

This was the first International tournament for the GB women, where they faced Hungary and Shanghai. The newly formed team, led by captain Emma Wiggs integrated well and were able to produce a convincing win against Hungary on the first day of the competition, much to the delight of Head Coach, John Bestebroer.  It was a closer affair on the second day with the Hungarian side digging deep to take the game to a fifth set. The GB women proved to be the stronger team taking the deciding set 15-13.

The young Shanghai team were fierce competitors winning all of their matches over the duration of the weekend taking home the winners trophy in the women's competition.

GB Men and Battle Back teamsThe GB men were overall winners in the men’s competition despite losing the last match of the weekend against Battle Back in a thrilling 5 set match. Battle Back were able to come back from 2 sets down to win the deciding set by the narrowest of margins.
