Kent win the County Sailing Trophy for the best overall results for the second consecutive year beating counties from across the country

Winning Kent TeamThe 2010 NSSA National Youth Regatta ended recently following five days of extremely close racing in West London.

Hosted at Datchet Water Sailing Club, over 300 young people arrived with 250 boats to prepare their boats for one of the most prestigious youth sailing events in the country. Unlike any other sailing regatta in the UK this regatta, as the name suggests, focuses on youngsters.

As well as winning the County Trophy, Ben Gray age 10yrs, came 2nd in the slow Handicap class as well as being awarded the trophy for the best overall result for an under 12.

Richard Thomas from Broadstairs won the Laser Radial Fleet with other Kent sailors taking four out of the top six places. Nathan Brazil from Deal came 5th in the Fast Handicap fleet.

Neil Far, Team Manager for the Kent Schools Sailing Team, said: "This was a great achievement and all the children were a great credit to the county of Kent. The KSSA has a strong and active membership and have produced a number of top National and International sailors over the years".
