Margate Masters Volleyball England Tour enjoyed by all in glorious sunshine

Volleyball digVolleyball coaching On Friday 26 June, 60 secondary school pupils from Hereson, Clarendon House, Chatham House, Dane Court, Ursuline College and Herne Bay High Schools received expert coaching from Volleyball England coaches and were treated to a demonstration from two of the top teams entered into the men's elite draw.

The schools then battled it out to win the U13 and U15 Thanet Secondary Schools Beach Volleyball titles with Dane Court winning the U13s final and Hereson 1 taking the U15s title.

Mervyn Davey, Director of Sport at Ursuline College, said, "This is a new event and one that the children really enjoyed.  It was well organised and the pupils really enjoyed playing in the main arena.  We hope this can become part of the schools' calendar and help schools offer more diverity of opportunities.  We will certainly be doing Beach Volleyball more!"

Volleyball dig men'sAgain with glorious sunshine on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 June the Margate Masters National Beach Volleyball tournament landed on Margate Main Sands.  Crowds packed the promenade and specially constructed grandstand seating to enjoy the action.  An estimated 5,000 people enjoyed the event.  Gabriela Medricka and Eva Czinegeova retained their title and Tom Lord and Phil Smith won the men's final.  Tom and Phil train full time with the GB squad in Bath.

The UK Footvolley Association and English Footvolley team demonstrated the sport and involved members of the public and a local standard adult competition also took place.  Look out for future local competitions throughout the summer!
