Medway Dragons RLFC Wheelchair RL Team hosted mighty Bradford Bulls on Bank Holiday Sunday 28 August at Medway Park.

The Bulls opened up the scoring and racked up three tries in quick succession before the slow starting Dragons had got their patterns of play together.

The Dragons got on the scoreboard after 15 minutes when Nick Brooks touched down after a period of pressure. This was converted and another score four minutes later from Rob O'Brien pulled The Dragons back into it at 10-16.

After half time, The Dragons were again punished by the inventive Bulls team who took advantage of the full size pitch with some great attacking kicks, turning The Dragons defence around and touching down to push the lead out to 10-28.

Back came the Red & Gold Machine and fine interplay and passing saw Joe Coyd touch down for a try under the posts, to pull one back. The comeback was on when Coyd scored another following a period of great play and pressure. 20-28. The Dragons suffered a setback when Bradford posted the next try but saw a glimmer of hope when David Harris got over the whitewash, 24-34.

It was on for a grandstand finish and frantic changes from the bench with fresh players coming on to shore up the defence and seek the opening in attack. There were debuts for Matt Anderson and Chris Davis and a welcome return for James Hymus and Travis Sharp as coach Matt Bromley ensured maximum participation.

The final score went to the Bulls on the whistle to leave the final score at 24-40.

Dragons Coach, Matt Bromley, was pleased with the performance. “It was a great opportunity to measure how far we have come since our first game against The Bulls in May. At times, we played some great Rugby League today, controlling the ball, completing our sets and defending very well. We have a lot of work to do to get ready for our last game in two weeks”.

Next up for The Dragons is the final game of the season, away at Featherstone Rovers on Sunday 11 September 2011.
