Sports Scholarships

Neil Leach - BoxingKent Sport, Leisure and Olympics are supporting 21 individuals from 11 different sports via their Coach and Official Scholarship Scheme.

Applications were invited throughout February from the various National Governing Bodies of Sport and a total of £3,625 was awarded to individuals looking to progress themselves as coaches and/or attend training and competition events.

Amongst those sports supported were Boxing (£400) where a coach is being funded to achieve his Senior Level 3 Coaching qualification, British Water Ski (£375) where a coach is being supported to gain a Level 3 Certificate in Tutoring Sport and a Level 3 in Introduction Practice in Sport, and Equestrian (£600) where three individuals are being supported to also achieve Level 3 qualifications. Funding was also awarded to an individual (£250) wanting to officiate at the Boccia National Championships in Nottingham whilst two cyclists were supported to gain their Level 2 Certificate in Coaching which will support the future work of Club Cyclopark when Cyclopark opens in 2012.

Other sports supported were Table Tennis (£180), Squash (£580), Badminton (£175), Canoeing (£200) and Volleyball (£165).
