Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon helped by school pupils

RunnersOver sixty pupils from schools in Tunbridge Wells volunteered to give up some of their precious half term holiday recently to help support the Lifestyle Renault Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon.

Pupils from Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Girls and Bennett Memorial School spent their time putting together over two thousand goody bags for the race which took place on Sunday 27 February.

Organisers Jo and Paul Clift needed to put together 2200 bags containing drinks, food, magazines, products and flyers for the runners after the race.  It was a complicated job requiring a lot of manpower and they were really grateful to the pupils for giving up some their holiday to support the event.

On race day itself, they joined forces with 100 other pupils from Skinners' School and St Gregory's School who have volunteered to man car parking, water stations, race baggage, and handing out medals, goody bags and race T shirts on the finish line, alongside race ambassador Dame Kelly Holmes, who started the race at 10am.

The Lifestyle Renault Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon took place on Sunday 27 February at 10am.
