Support for County Players

The Kent FANS Scheme offers opportunities for those sports performers that are currently members of a national team or squad, listed in the top 10 of any national age group ranking or successful in any national age group competition (top 10 finish) in the last 12 months.

There are a number of local authorities that have equivalent schemes in place who do provide opportunities and support for those competing at various levels. Details of local authorities offering further opportunities are listed below:

Ashford Borough Council

Offer: Free admission for County sports performers in Ashford:

• Those in a county/national team/squad/coaching squad
• Nationally ranked (dependent on level)
• National Champion (competition sanctioned by governing body)

Offer: Dartford Borough Council’s Performers Award
Applications can be received from individuals representing Dartford at County, Regional, National or International Events. The maximum award is £250.

Medway Council

Offer: Free access to selected Medway Leisure facilities to anyone who fulfils the criteria:

• Currently members of a county/national team or squad
• Currently listed in the top 10 of any national age group ranking
• Successful in any national age group competition (top 10 finish), in the last 12 months.

Additional to this, Medway offer an Athlete Development grant support package and 2012 Olympic support.

Shepway District Council

Offer: Free admission for County sports performers in Folkestone, Hythe & Romney Marsh:

• A member of a County team/squad/coaching squad
• County rated (dependent on level)
• A County champion (competing in national competition sanctioned by the governing body)

Offer: Free access for County sports performers to Thanet's sports facilities for personal training (FACS) and small grants between £50 and £300 for those competing at County level or above.
