Looking back at 2018

On Friday 29 June 2018, 20 workplace teams (c.160 participants) descended on Medway Park to battle it out at the 2018 Kent & Medway Business Games.

Despite the rising temperatures on one of the hottest days of the year, the Teams played adapted versions of sports such as goalball, handball and wheelchair rugby. They also had a chance to compete in the Athletics Zone trying out ball push, speed bounce, long jump, javelin with the 80ft Giant Inflatable Assault Course proving a popular addition to this year’s event. To wrap up the day, the teams took on the 4x100m relay with a slight twist to the traditional ‘baton’!

Organised by Kent Sport, in partnership with Medway Sport, the Business Games is now in its fourth year offering an afternoon of fun activities, team building, networking and healthy competition. The event is an opportunity for colleagues to come together, represent their workplace, try new sports, get active and have some fun outside the office.

Lucy Tomlinson, Workplace Health Activator at Kent Sport stated: “Over the last three years, the event has proved to be a great platform to promote sport and physical activity to a wide range of businesses. This year was no different. With a new venue and a new format, the event is really going from strength to strength inspiring people to be more active in and outside the workplace. We’d like to thank Medway Sport for their ongoing support, our Headline sponsors National Grid, our Games supporters Wellbeing People and of course all the sports coaches and volunteers who helped make the event happen on the day.”

Stuart Clack, National Grid commented: “As a large local employer, we’re always keen to support local community programmes and the annual Business Games is an event which anyone can take part in. We’re proud to have been this year’s Headline Sponsors and Kent Sport have definitely delivered another successful event.”
